Transcut Studio is a video editor that runs on your computer. It is operated by Andika Sentosa Putra, British Columbia, Canada (“we”, “us”). Questions: support@transcutstudio.com.
The short version
- Your videos, audio and transcripts never leave your computer. Transcription, editing and export all happen on your device. We never receive, see or store your media.
- We only handle the little information needed to sell you a licence and keep the app working: your email address, your licence key, and an anonymous code for your computer.
- We don’t sell your information, and we don’t show ads.
What we collect, and why
| Information | When | Why | Who handles it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name, email address, billing country, order details | When you buy Pro or a monthly plan | To process your purchase, send your receipt and licence key, and handle refunds | Lemon Squeezy, our reseller (merchant of record). Payment card details go to Lemon Squeezy and its payment processors, never to us. |
| Licence key, an anonymous device code, app version, operating system | When you activate your licence, and when the app checks it (at start-up and about once a day while online) | To confirm your licence is valid and enforce the device limit | Lemon Squeezy’s licence service and our licence server |
| An anonymous device code | When you use one of your 3 free full exports | To count free exports per computer | Our licence server |
| Your IP address (sent automatically with any internet request) | When the app downloads a speech model, checks for updates or checks your licence | Needed to deliver the download or answer the check; not used to identify you | Hugging Face (model downloads), our update and licence servers |
| Crash reports (what went wrong in the app, without your file names or transcript text) | Only if you turn this on | To fix bugs | Our crash-reporting service |
| Usage statistics (for example “an export finished”; never your content) | Only if you turn this on | To understand which features help people | Our analytics service |
| Your email address | When you join the waitlist on our website | To send you the launch email (and nothing else, unless you sign up for more) | Our website host (Cloudflare) and, for sending, our email service |
| Your messages | When you email us | To answer you | Our email provider |
The anonymous device code is a scrambled identifier made on your computer. It doesn’t contain your name, email, files or anything readable about you; it only lets us tell one computer from another.
What we don’t collect
Your videos, audio, transcripts, project files, file names or folder names; your contacts; your location beyond the country you give at checkout.
How long we keep it
- Purchase records: as long as the law requires (tax records in Canada: generally 6 years).
- Licence and device records: while your licence is active, and up to 2 years after it ends.
- Free-export counts: up to 2 years.
- Crash reports and statistics (if you turned them on): up to 1 year.
- Support emails: up to 2 years after the conversation ends.
- Waitlist emails: until the launch email is sent and up to 6 months after, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Crash reports and usage statistics are off unless you turn them on, and you can turn them off at any time in Settings.
- You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (except what we must keep by law), by writing to support@transcutstudio.com. We answer within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live (for example Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom or California), you may have further rights under local privacy law; we honour them. You can also complain to your privacy regulator (in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in British Columbia, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner).
Where the information is processed
We and some of the services above may process information outside your country (for example in Canada, the United States or the European Union). We only use services that protect it with appropriate safeguards.
Children
Transcut Studio isn’t intended for children under 13 (under 16 in the European Union), and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
